May 13, 2026, marks a significant milestone for the Vietnamese unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry. At the XPONENTIAL 2026 exhibition in Detroit, Michigan (USA), the Vietnam Aerospace & Unmanned Systems Network (AUVS Vietnam) and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) officially reached a strategic cooperation agreement.

Under this agreement, AUVS Vietnam will become AUVSI's first 'strategic chapter' in the Southeast Asian region, opening a new chapter for the global integration of 'Vietnamese intelligence' in UAV technology.

The strategic cooperation agreement focuses on three core pillars:

  • Knowledge Exchange: Sharing specialized information on unmanned systems (UAV/UAS) and promoting the development of the low-altitude economy ecosystem.
  • Network Connection: Creating a direct bridge between AUVS Vietnam members and the international business community and stakeholders within AUVSI's network.
  • Multidimensional Dialogue: Organizing priority webinars, seminars, and specialized events in Vietnam and the region, laying the foundation for deeper cooperative projects in the future.

XPONENTIAL is the world's largest annual event for unmanned systems and robotics, organized by AUVSI. In 2026, the event took place from May 11 to 14 at Huntington Place, Detroit, covering over 9,000 m² and attracting approximately 550 businesses from more than 30 countries.

The difference in this participation is the presence of a strong and well-organized Vietnamese delegation, no longer individual efforts. Leading the way are 'frontrunners' such as Gremsy – a leader in stabilization systems (gimbals) and specialized cameras for UAVs with over 15 years of experience; Realtime Robotics serving security and defense; and Saolatek pioneering in integrated drones for education, monitoring, and rescue.

The delegation was also accompanied strategically by the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park, FPT UAV, the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA), and the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV).

The partnership opens a new chapter for the Vietnamese UAV industry to reach global levels.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan emphasized: 'This cooperation not only affirms AUVS Vietnam's position but also serves as a lever to bring Vietnamese intelligence in the field of unmanned systems to the international level.'

Becoming AUVSI's representative in Southeast Asia will help Vietnamese businesses gain early access to international technical standards, shorten the gap in technology and management, and enhance competitiveness to penetrate demanding markets like the US and Europe.

The strategic cooperation agreement between AUVS Vietnam and AUVSI is a historic turning point, marking the maturity and global ambition of the Vietnamese UAV community. This is not only an opportunity for domestic businesses to learn and grow but also an affirmation that 'Vietnamese intelligence' can fully contribute to the global technology value chain.
